Overseas Expertise IntroductionProjectforDiscipline Innovation (“111Project”) is jointly supported by the Ministry of Education and the State Administration of Foreign Experts Affairs, China. It aims to promote the establishment of world-class universities in China. Being aimed at the frontier of international discipline development and based on national key disciplines, this project is in concert with national objectives and is designed to bring in over 1000 overseas academic leaders and experts from the superior disciplines of the world's top 100 universities and research institutions. By equipping with them a group of outstanding domestic research leaders,this project aims to make distinguished research teams and build about 100 world-class Overseas Expertise Introduction Center for Discipline Innovation, so as to create scientific and technological achievements with international impacts, enhance the international competitive capabilitiesinresearchand technology development, and raise the overall level and international status of institutions.


In January 2018, the Ministry of Education and the State Administration of Foreign Experts Affairs approved the Overseas Expertise Introduction Center for Discipline Innovation of Computational Neuroscience and Brain-Inspired Intelligence at the Institute of Science and Technology for Brain-Inspired Intelligence (ISTBI) of Fudan University.



I. Objectives

1.To establish a full-dimensional big data information platform of brain science and develop a multi-central and multi-scaled big data sharing mechanism of brain science of international and domestic scope, and to provide internationalsupports.

2.To illuminate the human intelligence of neural coding pattern, neural circuit mechanism and the dynamic development process mechanism of human intelligence of cross-scaled learning, memory and human intelligence from the level of molecule and neuron to neural circuit.

3.To develop new statistical learning methods and intelligent algorithms, build the intelligent diagnosis algorithms of brain diseases based on machine learning, and promote new discoveries of information-processing mechanism of human brain.

4.To develop intelligent technology development platforms for brain diseases diagnosis and treatment, conduct research in brain imaginganalysiand intelligent neuromodulation technology, and provide intelligent intervention and management technology platforms for human brain function

2) Novel brain-inspired intelligence algorithms

a) Theories of Brain-inspired algorithms: intelligence algorithm theories inspired by brain mechanisms

b) Applications of brain-inspired algorithms: multi-domain application of intelligent algorithms (logistics, power grid, robot, clinic, etc.)


3) The intelligent diagnosis and instrument of brain disease

a) Intelligent recognition of brain function: the risk prediction of stroke, Parkinson's disease, etc.

b) Intelligent control of brain function: Nervestimulationtherapyfor pain, depression, etc.
