USyd-Fudan Brain and Intelligence Science Alliance (BISA) Catalyst Grants Program

The University of Sydney (USyd) and Fudan University (Fudan) have formed a strategic partnership to foster deep collaborations in research and education. The Brain and Intelligence Science Alliance (BISA) has been established as a platform to raise the research impact of both institutions through inter-disciplinary translational brain and mind research. The goal of BISA is to train research leaders, advance technological innovation and scientific research, and secure practical applications for science and technology research.

Jointly funded by the University of Sydney (USyd) and Fudan University (Fudan), the USyd-Fudan Brain and Intelligence Science Alliance Catalyst Grants Program (BISACGP) aims to support collaboration projects that have strong potential for tangible research outcomes and societal impact and attract national and international funding.

In this round, up to three projects will be funded:

·Each project with two Chief Investigators, one from USyd and one from Fudan;  

·The project should fall under one of the following research areas:

~ Cognitive Neuroscience and Brain Disorders

~ Digital Healthcare

~ Computational Neuroscience and Neuroimaging

·Each successful project may receive up to the equivalent of AUD $30,000 from the USyd and RMB¥150,000 from Fudan for a total up to the equivalent AUD$60,000 (approximately RMB¥300,00 subject to exchange).

These projects should foster new ideas and projects for collaboration and extend beyond one-to-one collaboration. Projects which are multidisciplinary in nature and support development of postgraduate students and Early and Mid-Career Researchers (EMCR) are encouraged. It is expected that all funded projects will evolve into larger scale projects, sustained by leveraging external funding. Funded teams are expected to submit external grant applications to specific value or to dedicated national/international agencies and meet other KPIs detailed in the Guidelines.
